Constitution Article I: Name The name of this organization shall be known as the Islam Universal, or IU of the Islamic Institute of knowledge. Article II: Mission Islam Universal is a youth group designed to help bring together the youth of the community, specifically catering to the pre-adolescent and adolescent years. Through providing them with an Islamic environment filled with knowledge, insight, activity, and fun, the youth will be equipped with the pertinent resources that will empower the youth to mobilize and to develop into the leaders of tomorrow. Article III: Membership Membership is open to all interested in helping promote an Islamic environment, and to adhere to the policy that are placed by Islam Universal and The Islamic Institute of Knowledge. Article IV: Organization The governing body of Islam Universal is the Executive Council. The Executive Council shall be comprised of the following positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Public Relation officer. The Executive Council has the authority to appoint members to other designated officer positions to fulfill the work of Islam Universal as needed. E. Public Relation Officer 1. Take care of all public relations concerning the IU.
F. Event Coordinator 1. Coordinate and oversee all committee activities. 2. Coordinate all events and delegating tasks appropriately. 3. Be aware of and report to the IU board regarding ‘outside events’ so they do not conflict with IU events. Article II: Advisor 1. Act as a consultant to the organization in understanding the institutional hierarchies present within the Islamic Institute of Knowledge. 2. On a monthly basis, meet with the President and/or Vice President to be briefed on the activities of the organization, and address any issues, concerns, or projects that may directly involve the organization’s advisor. 3. Assist the organization with internal and external conflict resolution. Article III: Term of Office The Executive Council shall be elected by the membership and shall serve for one year. Unexpired Terms
Article V: Removal from Office 1. An officer can be removed from office by: A. Infringement of any of these Bylaws. B. Commitment of an act discreditable to Islam Universal. C. Failing to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position specified in the Islam Universal Constitution and Bylaws or in the official position description. Any of the following conditions must be met to remove a delegate from office: A. Misappropriating Islam Universal funds. B. Neglecting duties outlined in the Constitution and Bylaws or as stated in the official position description. 2. If any of the above conditions exist, the removal procedures are as follows: A. Notification and counseling: the person will be given the opportunity to resign or meet specific requirements to fulfill his or her duties as determined by the Executive Council. B. A two-thirds majority vote of the Executive Council is required for removal from office. Article VI: Amendments Any Amendments to the constitution must be presented as a formal written proposal to the executive council. Religiously based disagreements regarding any amendment shall be considered and referred to one or more religious authorities unanimously agreed upon by the executive council. A two-thirds majority vote of the Executive Council is required to amend the constitution. |
